Thank you for visiting the BD team page.
I am grateful for the opportunity to coordinate a BD team again this year for the Walk to Defeat ALS. This event and this organization are quite dear to me--my mother was diagnosed with ALS in 2015 (feel free to visit my personal page for my story).
The Annual Walk to Defeat ALS is the Greater San Diego Chapter’s most important fundraiser each year!
This year’s Walk to Defeat ALS on Sunday October 17 has gone “Virtual” to keep the health and wellbeing of our entire ALS Community as the #1 priority. “Walk Your Way” is the 2021 event theme, which refers to the many different ways you can participate virtually while maintaining physical distances and still raising money to help people, families, and caretakers affected by ALS.
On Sunday October 17 (or any other day of your choosing, really) , you choose your own way to participate - whether it be a stroll in your neighborhood, steps in the backyard, at a park, beach, or mountain hike, on a treadmill, or even surfing a few good waves or going for a drive. However you participate, please do so in a way that is both safe and meaningful for you.
Please join our team! Bring your friends and family! Help our team raise much needed funds to support ALS research and ALS patients.
With sincere thanks,
~Meredith Dimagiba

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
That’s why we’re participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS. To bring hope. To raise awareness. To provide resources and services to families free of charge. To help unlock the mystery of ALS and find the key to treatments a cure. Will you join us?
ABOUT ALS
Amyotrophiclateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
ALS can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease, yet it still costs loved ones an average of $250,000 a year to provide the care people living with ALS and their families need. Join the movement to provide help and hope today!
