It's hard to believe this will be the 10th year Team Tough But Determined (TBD) will be participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS. For those who have supported the team, and walked with us in the past you know what a remarkable experience it is and I want to thank you, for it is you that make this event so special.
As most of you know, in September of 2009 I was diagnosed with ALS, Lou Gehrig’s Disease. This is a fatal disease for which there is no cure, as of yet, and the life expectancy for about 90% of those afflicted with ALS is 2-5 years. I'm one of the lucky ones in that I'm now a 9 year survivor. During that time there have been a lot of changes, I can no longer speak, my arms and legs don't function properly, but the greatest impact on me has been watching all too many people I know die from this disease.
The biggest advocate for research and provider of resources to those of us with this disease is the ALS Association. They have helped me and thousands of others by providing equipment and support as we battle on a day-to-day basis. They cannot provide the resources and services people with ALS (PALS) and their family’s need without your support.
On October 20, 2019 we will once again be lacing up our sneakers for the annual 5K “Walk to Defeat ALS” here is San Diego (actually I’ll be rolling not walking) and I hope that you will consider supporting Team TBD by joining our team as a walker and or with a donation.
Any TBD walk team member who donates or raises $50.00 or more will receive an invitation to the team pre-walk dinner, always a good time and an invitation to the after walk picnic. Last year we had 100 walk team members, lets see if we can’t set a record and have 130 Tough But Determined walkers this year.
If you prefer you can mail your donation to me at 13869 Putney Rd. Poway, CA 92064.
Make checks payable to the ALS Association and mark on the check that the donation is for Team TBD. All donations are tax deductible.
Please forward this email on to friends, family, co-workers and corporations to see if they would like to join the team or help sponsor you for the walk. The more support we receive the more the ALS Association can provide resources and raise awareness about this disease. Also don’t forget to see if your company has a matching funds program.

Thank you for your support and together we can make a difference.
