My Aunt Sue died of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) 27 years ago on November 25th of this year, before I was born. I wish I'd gotten to meet her because everyone says she was a very special and loving person. I am very proud and honored to be named after my Aunt Sue. My mom,Tracy, and I started the Soles for Sue team to celebrate Aunt Sue and to raise much needed funding to support services for other ALS patients, and for research to find a cure for this dreadful disease. Mom and I will be joining our family and friends on the Soles for Sue team at the San Diego Walk Sunday, October 17, 2021 at DeAnza Cove, Mission Bay, San Diego, and we want you to join us for the three mile scenic walk along beautiful Mission Bay. Why We Need Your Help
Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of an ALS patient averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
This crippling disease can strike anyone. Presently there is no known cause of the disease yet it still costs loved ones an average of $200,000 a year to provide the care ALS patients need. Help make a difference and donate or join our team today.
